Isinglass English Dining Room, now recommended in the Michelin Guide 2012

Thanks to twins Anthony Dunbar, Head Chef & Rachel Ireland, Front of House.

This pairing may be the secret to the success of this well recognised gem.

Only the best food, grown and reared in the lush countrysides of Manchester or from the finest independent local suppliers is on the menu. The ingredients are always fresh and skillfully cooked with imagination and some historical flair to enhance the natural flavours.

Food is served for the climate; from light fish dishes during summer months through to 28-day-aged, slow cooked Hereford Beef in winter with all the trimmings. Follow us on Facebook

“…the food satisfies and the tastes linger with an unexpected return of youthful memories” Lisa Walker, Chef of the year 2005

“…high octane wild horseradish…totally together variety…really great pinot noir!” Neil Sowerby, MEN City Life 2010

“…The place is once, twice, thrice recommended…the outstanding dish was the duck with morello cherry sauce, truffle mash and buttered kale…thumpingly good. This is one of my top ten dishes of 2010.”

                                       Jonathan Schofield, Manchester Confidential 2010

There are two dining rooms in this Victorian townhouse which was once used as a bakery. Original fixtures surround the diner including the iron cooking range, the high ceilings, wood floors and traditional fireplaces.

We are most grateful to the diners of Urmston who have welcomed us so warmly and we hope they will continue to relax and indulge themselves for a long, long time still to come.
